Written in old English and so is harder to understand. Also, some of the conventions are dated and it doesn't have any recent information. It gives a reasonably good overall concept of beekeeping, but there are more modern books that would do better. Beekeeping for Dummies would be one.
Easy to understand, covered everything I had questions about. I would recommend this if you are considering starting in beekeeping

Type is very small and hard to read. Could use updating greatly.
A great read for history of beekeeping. I have found other books I like better for technique and scientific fact, but this was fun to read. And still relevant.
This book may have been helpful many years ago, but it is too outdated to be useful to us in our beekeeping. No mention of varroa mites or different types of bees available. It is a reprint with no updates.
I found "First Lesson in Beekeeping" to be detailed and a timeless introductory book on beekeeping for beginners. Although the language is a bit dated (1911), the information is still valid and worth reading. I acquire my first two hives next month, and this book has been helpful in preparing me for this new phase in my life.
